The presentation, Underrecognized, Recurring Tourniquet Problems, was provided by Piper Wall, DVM, PhD; UnityPoint-Des Moines IMMC and Charisse Buising, PhD; Drake University during the April 2026 C-TECC Meeting held at SOMA 2026 in Raleigh, NC.
The purpose of this presentation was to increase recognition of underrecognized, recurring tourniquet problems with the understanding that recognition is important for improving tourniquet training and use. For tools as important and consequential as emergency-use limb tourniquets, problem recognizition should be widespread and an ongoing team effort. Use problems are promoted by training problems, which are influenced by understanding problems, and understanding and training are impacted by people in many roles.
This presentation is available on the Meetings & References webpages as well.
